The Besom Network
The Besom Network, founded in 1987, is a national Christian ministry which provides support to residents in need of furniture and appliances for their homes. Examples of items they have supported Mount Green residents with include washing machines, fridges, beds, mattresses, carpets and rugs.
Led and run wholly by volunteers, The Besom Network take referrals and can provide essential items for families and individuals in emergency or difficult situations.
We recently referred a mother with a young child to the Besom Network after they had to leave their flat due to flooding and most of the items in their home needed replacing due to water damage.
Good Company (Surrey)
Mount Green is a close partner of Good Company, a charity working to prevent and alleviate poverty in East Surrey by providing local foodbanks (as part of The Trussell Trust’s network), pantries and support.
Mount Green is one of 150 organisations in Epsom and Ewell, Mole Valley & Reigate & Banstead able to make referrals to the Trussell Trust’s foodbank network, which in addition to providing meals for up to three days, also provides practical support to prevent food insecurity.
In addition to making foodbank referrals, Mount Green team members also sit on the Good Company’s Poverty Truth Commission, which was set up in 2019 aiming to build relationships between local organisations and commissioners to raise awareness about the drivers of poverty and how we can change the culture of our organisations to address them.

Christians Against Poverty
Christians Against Poverty (CAP) has helped a number of our residents to become debt-free and deal with financial hardship and debt repayment, and resolve problems that can cause debt to build up.
The group has been providing free professional debt help through local churches across the UK since 1996. Nationally, CAP has helped more than 20,000 people become debt-free since 2010.

Mediation Surrey
In our Good Neighbourhood Toolkit, we set out our two-step approach to building good relationships and resolving issues with your neighbours. Depending on the issue, and if both households are open to participating, we may recommend mediation.
This is something we can arrange with partners like Mediation Surrey, who help neighbours identify the cause of a dispute and reach a resolution with the support of a mediator.
Mediation Surrey’s services are free for Surrey residents, confidential and impartial. They also offer support coaching where mediation is not appropriate – helping residents to have the tools to manage any day-to-day conflict or negative issues.
