Mount Green board member named a Women in Housing finalist

Alison Whittington

We’re celebrating following the announcement that Allison Whittington has been shortlisted in the ‘Board Member of the Year’ category in the 2022 Women in Housing Awards

The prestigious awards celebrate the leaders, innovators and changemakers across the sector, shining a light on the incredible work carried out by women in the last year.

Allison joined Mount Green as a board member in 2017 and has made a significant contribution to our organisation as chair of the Audit and Risk committee (ARC), but also around advocating for equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI).

Always striving to add social value where she can, Allison also used her expertise to contribute to Dame Hackitt’s Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety and has worked with the Government to improve the resilience of the built environment in the UK – focusing on the housing sector’s needs.

Bill Flood, Chief Executive at Mount Green Housing Association, said: “I’ve been really grateful for the counsel that Allison has provided me over the years. She has been an advocate for our customers, whilst being a critical friend to the organisation and has led on some really difficult and challenging conversations.

“From EDI to our recent in-depth assessment (IDA) with the regulator, Allison has been brilliant at pushing us to strive for more and put our heads above the parapet on a number of issues. Her outstanding contribution deserves to be recognised and I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed at the ceremony in June.”

Organised by Inside Housing in conjunction with the Housing Heroes Awards, the winner will be announced on 27 June at Manchester Central – as part of this year’s Chartered Institute of Housing’s annual conference.
