Balcony and Fire Safety

Important: Balcony and Fire Safety

We appreciate that with the current Government restrictions in place due to the Coronavirus, along with the prospect of a sunny bank holiday weekend ahead, there will be the temptation to barbecue outdoors.

We would like to remind all residents that the operation of barbecues on balconies is strictly forbidden. You can read our new leaflet on balcony and fire safety here

Sadly, the media has reported several serious fires in the last 18 months caused by barbecues on balconies. Fires have spread to other flats, causing distress to residents and extensive damage to properties.

We would ask that all residents comply with these instructions. Should you witness any resident conducting barbecues on their balconies please let Mount Green know straight away and the appropriate enforcement action will be taken. This may sound harsh but the safety of our residents in your homes is our number one priority.

Finally, please keep yourself and your family safe by following the Government guidelines to stay at home and help stop the spread of the coronavirus.

If you need to get in touch with us, you can call our Customer Services Team on 01372 379555 or email us at customerservices@mountgreen.org.uk. In the event of an emergency such as a fire, you should call 999.
