After the retirement of the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Board following their successful serving of their terms of office, Mount Green are delighted to announce three new appointments to our Board to further strengthen our governance and scrutiny arrangements.
After a competitive process of recruitment the Board and Chief Executive, Bill Flood, have appointed David Hunter as Chair of the Board, Peter Gardiner as Vice-Chair and Kel Swinnerton as a Non-Executive Director of the Board. All three appointments will be bringing a range of valuable skills and knowledge to the Board that further strengthens our leadership of the organisation and the Board’s ability to guide Mount Green through its next stage of evolution, including these challenging Covid-19 times we are currently living in.
David Hunter, as the new Chair, has been in housing throughout his career, seeing a wide variety of the sector, including working for organisations in residential sales and lettings, local authority housing, Housing Association’s and the For-Profit Registered Provider sector. He is a champion of resident interests and the voice of the customer and has worked throughout his career to involve residents in the development of operational services and governance. David is currently Resident Services Director at The Hyde Group and Vice Chair of Loddon Homes.
David commented “I’m looking forward to playing my part in steering Mount Green to meet the challenge set down by the Board and Executive. This will put our residents at the heart of our thinking and ensure the services we offer are focused towards delivering homes they can thrive in, in areas where they most need them. These are challenging times for our sector, but I am confident that under the leadership of Bill, the Executive and the Board, we have a team focused on building on Mount Green’s rich history and providing homes to the communities we serve for many years to come”.
Peter Gardiner, as the new Vice-Chair, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management, and is the Resources Director and Deputy CEO at Ability Housing. He has a wide range of experience in Housing, Construction and other sectors, working for almost 40 years in the UK, Europe and the US; including strong Board experience, having previously been Chair of Thrive Homes and working as Director of Financial Services at Southern Housing Group.
Peter told us “I am looking forward to working with the Board and the Executive to build on the hard work and strong foundations established by previous colleagues, and ensure a bright future for Mount Green and its residents.”
Kel Swinnerton joins the Board as a Non-Executive Director, bringing strong legal credentials having qualified as a lawyer in England and Wales and then in the State of California. He worked in City of London private practice before heading up the Legal Departments of BUPA International and Canada Life in the UK and has broad legal, regulatory and governance experience. He now sits as a Fee-paid Judge in several chambers of the First-tier Tribunal.
Kel said “I am delighted to be joining the Board of Mount Green at an exciting time and very much look forward to supporting the team and to contributing to the progress that Mount Green continues to make”.
We are very grateful to both Linda Convery and Rob Pearce who have so ably supported and led Mount Green over their terms of office. Rob as the previous Vice-chair continues to support the handover arrangements by staying on the Board during the handover period to David and Peter as Chair and Vice-chair respectively.
