Our valued team of Neighbourhood Reps has been growing, helping us to hear from more residents about any suggestions or concerns they have.
Here we learn how Zoe, who is the new Neighbourhood Rep for Hopfields Close, got involved, and what she hopes to achieve on behalf of other residents.
Can you tell us about your housing journey?
“When I met my partner, we wanted to move in together but as he’s got two children, we really needed a two-bedroom house. We ended up moving into a one-bedroom flat to be together, but it was far away and wasn’t suitable for the children as it was too far from their mom’s house.
“We then got our house with Mount Green. It’s in the right area, has nice big bedrooms for the children, and after some tough health challenges for my partner, it’s a relief to be somewhere spacious and suitable”.
What attracted you to the role of Neighbourhood Rep?
“I found that I was sort of doing it anyway! I’m quite a talkative person, probably the chattiest in the building, so people tend to come to me and talk about any issues they have. So I found that I was then raising things in the hope I could help them, and thought I might as well make it official and become part of the Neighbourhood Reps team.”
What do you hope to achieve in the Neighbourhood Rep role?
“I want to make sure things get done for my fellow neighbours that need to be sorted, but maybe haven’t been raised or pushed for, due to others not feeling that confident to communicate with staff at Mount Green.
“I’m very new to the role but having more resident representation can only be a good thing and I’m hoping it will be a really positive experience.”
