Mount Green elects three new board members

Mount Green - new board members

Mount Green Housing Association has announced that three new members have been elected to its Board.

Verena Buchanan, Justin McCarthy and Becky Slaymaker have been appointed for their specialist experience across a number of industries, including construction, housing and technology. Their combined knowledge will be vital in contributing to the Mount Green board and providing support to its residents and team members across a number of areas and committees.

David Hunter, chair of Mount Green’s Board said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming Verena, Justin and Becky to the Mount Green Board. All three bring a breadth of experience from across a range of sectors as well as a clear enthusiasm and passion to support our residents to thrive. We look forward to welcoming them and exploring their ideas to support our future plans.”

Becky Slaymaker, a HR Director and qualified occupational psychologist, has been named as the new chair of people and remuneration committee. Becky said: “I’m looking forward to being able use my experience to create spaces that everyone in society can call home with a sense of pride, safety and security.”

Justin McCarthy is the new chair of development and assets committee and committee member on the audit and risk committee and has worked in the social housing sector for over 25 years.

Justin said: “I’m excited to be joining Mount Green’s board. I’m passionate about ensuring residents feel safe in their homes, receive excellent services and that Mount Green’s resources are maximised to deliver the very best outcomes for residents”.

Verena Buchanan will be joining both the development and assets committee and people and remuneration committee following a career in the social housing sector, leading on all aspects of frontline customer, housing and property services.

Verena commented: “Throughout my time in social housing, I have been able to learn and support residents through the challenges they face, and I look forward to bringing this experience to my new role with Mount Green.”

In addition to the new Board Members, Mount Green has also appointed two additional members to its Resident Committee Group (RCG). These individuals have been chosen to help raise resident voices and broaden the scope of work that the RCG undertake.
