We took part in this year’s Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week by working with residents and local organisations to promote safer, more connected neighbourhoods.
On Thursday 4 July, a selection of Neighbourhood Officers were joined by Surrey Police and Mole Valley District Council’s Joint Enforcement Team for walkabouts across select communities. The purpose of these visits was to give residents the chance to raise any concerns in person and speak directly with the teams working to support them.
Being visible in your neighbourhoods and listening to your concerns is something we value highly at Mount Green. It helps us to understand individual localised issues and helps us to take action quickly when needed. These in-person walkabouts also give you the chance to build a solid relationship with your Neighbourhood Officer, while making you aware of who your nearest representative is.
Our approach to tackling ASB is based on working together, both with residents and with our local partners. We often carry out joint visits with nearby police and council teams and always aim to respond to any issues raised in a fair and effective way. Every Neighbourhood Officer is fully trained in ASB resolution and looks after a specific patch, so that they get to know the area and the people living there.
We also understand that some of your concerns aren’t necessarily classed as ASB issues. Problems like noise from children playing or neighbours closing doors loudly can often be resolved through a calm conversation. In these cases, we offer support through our Good Neighbourhood Toolkit and are able to refer residents to Mediation Surrey if specialised help is needed.
Our team also took part in tailored ASB training across ASB Awareness Week, to make sure we stay up to date with the latest tools and guidance, so we’re offering you a quality, well-rounded service.
