Congratulations to the talented winners of our World Book Day competition, which invited Mount Green residents aged 12 and under to show us their creativity and submit drawings of their favourite book characters.
This year’s lucky winners were Kenley, aged 8 and Honey, aged 12, who through their love of reading brought characters from Sonic the Hedgehog and Warrior Cats to life.
As a result of their creativity, Kenley and Honey will each receive a £25 Waterstones book voucher allowing them to buy brand-new books to enjoy.
Mount Green believes that the joy of reading provides an escape from the everyday and helps to improve wellbeing. However, The National Literacy Trust recently reported that almost one million children don’t have a single book of their own, so we wanted to do our bit to minimise that figure.
We hope that Kenley and Honey enjoy their prizes – thank you for your excellent drawings.
