Mount Green Housing Association has delivered 44 gifts to families across Surrey and Sussex, with the help of Stripey Stork.
Stripey Stork is a local baby bank that distributes donated toys, clothing and essential items to families with young children that are going through tough times. Following the success of the campaign last year, Stripey Stork is once again rolling out its Christmas campaign, Santa Stork.
Santa Stork was established to help provide struggling families with gifts for them to give their children on Christmas day. The organisation has partnered with Toy Barnhaus so that supporters can purchase a present virtually for a child that needs it. Alternatively, money can be donated towards the campaign and items such as chocolate, toiletries and Lego sets are also accepted.
Christine Wytiahlowsky, Housing Services Manager at Mount Green, said “With many families continuing to feel the impact of the cost-of-living crisis we’re pleased to be working with Stripey Stork once again to deliver presents to families that are experiencing financial hardship.
“Christmas and some of the expectations that are put on the festivities can put families, who may already be struggling, in difficult situations. We’re glad to help in making sure our residents are supported during this expensive time of year”.
As well as providing presents, Mount Green launched two resident support funds earlier this year and has paid out £13,233 through its Breathing Space Fund. This particular fund was set up to provide financial help to residents who are struggling to pay for everyday necessities and money has been distributed to 23 tenanted households to date. Tenants can apply for the fund to help them money towards food, fuel, rent and other bills.
