Led by our Income Management Team, Mount Green has been taking part in initiatives to support some of our residents who have been struggling financially during the run up to Christmas as well as helping some of our local food banks. Thanks to support from Runnymede Food Bank, Stripey Stork in Mole Valley, and the Salvation Army in Runnymede, Guildford and Woking, Ellie, our Welfare Benefits Officer was able to distribute packages of festive food and presents to over 20 families she has been working with to brighten up their Christmas.
Two key objectives for Mount Green are the provision of more badly needed affordable housing and reinvestment in our current stock. To help fund these objectives we recently borrowed £10 million through a bond tap issue by teaming up with other associations. The tap issue was arranged by bond aggregator GB Social Housing (GBSH) who specialise in meeting the borrowing requirements of associations of Mount Green size.
We were delighted to welcome Andrew Smith and Alice Lean from Waverley Borough Council to see the progress being made at The Langhams, an exciting new development in Farnham, Surrey. The development, when completed in 2018, will provide a mix of houses for private sale, as well as homes for shared ownership and affordable rent. The Langhams is being built on a brownfield site close to good facilities such as local shops and the railway station
